Fueling Your Training Week: A Practical Guide to Pre- and Post-Workout Meals
Before: keep it light and familiar
One to two hours before training, a small carb-forward snack with a little protein covers most people for most sessions. Nothing new on hard-session days — experiments belong on easy days.
After: the boring window
The post-workout "window" is wider and more forgiving than the supplement aisle suggests. A normal meal with protein and carbs within a couple of hours is the whole assignment.
Hydration is the quiet variable
Most "bad workouts" trace back to sleep or hydration before anything exotic. Water through the day beats heroic chugging at the gym door.
Build a rotation
Pick three pre-workout snacks and three post-workout meals you genuinely like, and rotate. Decision fatigue kills more good habits than lack of information ever will.
